My first outing in a very long while.

It's been weeks in the planning but I think it went along quite nicely. I went out for a nice outing last Saturday with SkyRyd3r out in Unionville and Markham. I don't think the weather could have been any better. Stryker and Sparrow were going to come along but they weren't feeling very well.

The first stop was a lap around Toogood pond. It was a fairly long lap around the pond, walking on gravel and wooden bridges. SkyRyd3r took video and pictures at various spots around the pond. There were lots of geese, ducks and seagulls too which made me wish that I brought along some bread crumbs for them. Though they were no fun anyways. Every time I'd slowly approach them, but they would just waddle away into the pond.

After walking around Toogood pond, I got out of suit and we had lunch at a very nice pub. SkyRyd3r had a BLT and I had a California Club. We talked about various things such as the cons, though issues with getting his own partial for MFF were bothering him. Once we finished our lunch we headed to the Old Fire Hall Confectionery. We were going to see about getting some ice cream there, though we were still pretty full from our lunch. Instead we spotted Webkinz and Neopets there. I bought a Scorchio and SkyRyd3r bought a Shoyru. Both came with a candy stick that was tied to their necks.

Once we were done there, we made way to two small yet very nice parks. Once again I suit up to have some fun. They both had playscapes there that were designed for smaller kids but that deter a dragon away. Getting onto it a bit of a challenge but I managed to make it. I headed over to a plastic slide which had two lanes to slide down on. Unfortunately when I tried to seat myself down onto the slide I found that the lane was a little too tight for me. So no sliding down for me. As with any playscape there's always a good way to get off even if it's not the best way. I managed to get down the ladder where the monkey bar joined up with the playscape. Having done that we made way to another park which was accessible by a fairly long trail. It took a while but we made it there. Since it was a bit of a trek I took a little break and then it was off to the playscape. It was similar to the other one that I was on. Getting off was no problem. I went down the spiral slid which was big enough for me to go on. After that it was time for a bit of a break.

After the break we headed back to SkyRyd3r's place for some refreshments. His mother made some cookies for us which was very nice. Love Pillsbury cookies. We talked about furry stuff and other things. Soon I had to head off. Other than that the outing was pretty good. It was good to get out in suit again, though it would have been more fun if Stryker and Sparrow came along. Hopefully it'll be time to go out for another outing. Since I haven't worn the suit I need to get used to wearing it again.

I just took my CompTIA PDI+ exam and passed with a score of 850 from a range of 100 to 900! I emailed my boss about it and he told me that I got the best score so far. There's a few things that I need to review over but this is pretty good. There were some questions that threw me off a little and I figure that those are what I didn't do well on. It doesn't really tell you what you got wrong, just that you may have got one or more incorrect in certain areas that the exam covers. I felt that the exam went along a little too quickly and had me a little worried. Overall I'm quite pleased with the final result of the exam.

I know it's been a while but I managed to go and see the progress on my suit that Super Jay is busy working on. Thadius wanted to come to see how the suit was coming along. So far the foam under body, feet and head have been made. However, at this moment we're concentrating on the foam under body. I managed to try it on and it's fairly big and pieced together very well. Maybe it's a little too big to my liking but there's always room for some modifications to it to scale it down. Already some parts to cut away have been outlined. Once those are done I'll be seeing Jay again for a second fitting and to see on some more possible modifications if needed and so forth. Once the foam under body is done then it'll be ready to be furred and then work can be started on the head. I'm anticipating that the suit should be ready in about another month or a little longer depending on anything that may need to be tweaked a little. Other than that I'm quite happy with what I've seen so far and I can hardly wait for the suit to be finished.

Tornados touching down in Ontario last night.

Once in a while when the weather conditions are right we'll get hit with a very intense thunderstorm. The storm that we had yesterday was no exception. Not only was it intense, but it was intense enough to spawn tornados. Normally at this extreme we may get funnel clouds but they don't usually touch down. None touched down where I live but most were up in the York Region area which includes Woodbridge, Vaughan, Maple, Richmond Hill, Markham, Richmond Hill, Newmarket, King, Aura, East Gwillimbury and Whitchurch-Stouffville. Confirmed areas where the the tornado had touched down are Woodbridge, Vaughan, Maple and Newmarket. Such areas that were hit are close to key tourist spots such as Vaughan Mills and Canada's Wonderland. Environment Canada is figuring that the areas that were affected had an F2 class tornado. F2 class tornados usually have a winds speeds from 180km/h to 240km/h which is enough to cause significant damage to homes. Of the destruction around 120 homes have been destroyed. Surrounding areas also had very heavy winds which blew down trees causing damage and causing blackouts. Our hydro was cut for about four hours coming back on at around 10pm.

The storm also produced a very intense amount of lighting. It was just a constant flickering of light. Someone sent in a video clip to the Weather Network showing one bolt striking his neighbour's house and two bolts striking his back yard.

The last big storm that we had was back in either 2006 but this one brought back memories of the one that spawned tornados in Barrie and the northern part of Toronto which happened years before that.

My brief report of AC.

As I said earlier another con has come and gone. Each year AC keeps on growing. This year they broke the 3700 mark and there were also 640 fursuiters in the parade. So if the numbers are as good for next year as they currently are, I'm figuring that they'll easily break the 4000 mark and probably have around 750 fursuiters in the parade. Again that's just my guess for next year.

AC for this year was a little different for me. I had a great time but also my first time away from home to celebrate my birthday. For anyone who had sent me birthday wishes and greetings, thank you very much. For the fursuit parade I was carrying the provincial flag of Ontario which was pretty cool. Also this year I participated in the mentor program. It wasn't a very big crowd, but with about seven of us as mentors and having groups of either four or five it worked out pretty good. I figured that I would do it in suit and it worked out to be a very good idea. Those that I were mentoring had an interest in fursuiting and hopefully I managed to answer their questions. If AC is going to be having the mentor program next year, for sure I'll be doing it again.

As with any on I've been to I've met a lot of new friends and reunited with old friends. Not to mention a good number of people at the con who recognized me off of YouTube. Here's some words for a few of them:

codexrau I know I've mentioned it before but it was great to have you crashing with us for the night. If we come early again you're more than welcome to crash with us. I know some things that we wanted to do didn't fall through. That's the trouble with big cons. Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of Didge. Hopefully I'll get a few at Megaplex next year.

spats_bear It was great seeing you again and I enjoyed going our for dinner with you, Baccala and Rukario. The burgers were great! Though next time I'll leave Dougal back in our room. It was a little awkward trying to hold onto him and eating the burger. I was thinking for AC next year that we should try and get adjoining rooms which would be pretty cool.

emerson_collie It was great to see you too at AC. I know I didn't catch much of you in suit but fortunately you got some good video footage. Hope to see you again!

drakien1 I know with a comment that I posted to one of your LJ entries may have raised an eyebrow or two and I wasn't sure what you'd think of me. The moment I saw you at AC I had to stop and say "hi" to you. I know it wasn't till the end of the con that we had a few good moments to chat in the headless lounge. Super Jay did a great job on your suit and I'm happy to have him working on a new suit for me. Overall it was great to see you and I hope to see you again next year.

Bryagh - I don't know if you have an account here at LJ, but you were a very nice surprise to see. As with a number of others at the con, I was blown away with your suit. Silver did a great job on it. I hope to see you again and maybe have some time to chat a little. Oh yeah, Dougal sends you some more cuddles.

wildwolf4paws It's been a while since Megaplex of 2008 but it was great to see you at AC again. I'm sorry that I missed your panels that you had because I wanted to go to them. I know for sure that I'll be seeing you again at Megaplex in 2010.

tilt_longtail I don't want to sound like a broken record but it was great to see you again. I should have dropped in to see you when I had a number of free moments. Hope to see you next year and at Megaplex.

manitou52 As always, it's great to see you again. Although I haven't said it to you in person, you remind me of a fellow coworker of mine. There are slight differences between you and him but it's fairly close. Oddly enough he used to work for who you're working for.

johnnyblanco You're always a pleasure to have around whether in or out of suit. I can't think of anything more to say but I'll be seeing you again next year.

I know there are many others who I have to thank for seeing them again. Hope to see you all again next year!

Another year and another con has come and gone. AC was great! Met up with some old friends and met up with some new friends. Even Dougal made a few new friends. I'll post a more detailed report in a few days.

We've made it! Stryker, DJ and I made it to Pittsburgh at around 9:30am yesterday morning and managed to check in early at the hotel which is nice. If anyone wants to stop by for a visit we're up in room 1113 at the Westin. I've seen a lot of familiar faces so far and had Codex room with us for the night which was pretty cool. The weather, aside from the rain, has been pretty cool outside. Hopefully it'll be just as cool for the rest of the convention.

It's about eight more days before I start to head down to Pittsburgh to attend AC. However, I'm very worried about a friend of mine who's been under more stress than he can handle. He's once again been accused of something that he didn't do and it's taking a toll on him. He and his mate along with one other are supposed to be traveling down and rooming with me for the con. I don't know why stuff like this usually has to happen before each con we go to. I almost feel like canceling the whole thing altogether but there's a few friends going that I haven't seen in a long while and there's a few who've been wanting to see me. I hope he breaks out of it, but if I have to cancel I will.
